#305

It's November, nearly 10 days in already.  Goodness, Christmas will be here before I know it, and I'm definitly not ready.  It's right about time to start figuring out that stuff, but in the mean time many more things have fallen into place with the wedding preperations.

I've picked a dress, and though I'd love more than anything to post it here I'm terrified that FH will stumble upon the pic.  I will post some slightly similar pics so that you can get the idea.  It's very much a 1930's Glam style dress, with a modern twist of course.

This one's from Vera Wang :)

This also means (to me at least) that I can get away with no flowers.  Like any girl I love flowers, they're pretty and smell delightful, but they're very expensive, especially when you throw in the word Wedding.  So feather's it is, and I'm so very excited.

facinators4u.uk.co

Something kinda like this but with reds and purples.  I'm really excited about putting these and the bouts together because i think they're gonna turn out just gorgeous.  And then finally the centerpieces have completely changed.  I have no idea what I'm going to do with all my fluffy balls I was going to turn into flowers, maybe they'll become something with the favors.  Martha Stewart gave me an amazing idea from one of her Halloween decorations.

So I'm going to make something similar to the table top ones.  Painted black with gliter all over them.  I'm also very excited about these.  I think they're just perfect for the theme and are going to be super cheap to make.

Also we have our engagement party this weekend.  Which is super weird for me.  My mom is making a super big deal out of it, and I'm not even sure why she decided we're having one, there wasn't one for my brother as far as I know.  I think they're being weird cause I live out of state from all of them, and they feel like they're missing out on stuff, but I don't know what she could be missing out on, we went dress shopping together, and I wouldn't have involved her in the location or any or these other decisions I'm making even if I was at home.

I feel like we've made good headway on the big stuff though.  The food at the place will be easy, so we need a photographer, a cake, officiant, bridesmaid dresses, rings, well really there's lots more to do, but I feel like the big stressful things are good and set.

#319

OK, I definitly suck but I needed a desperate break from even thinking about wedding stuff for a few days.  Last weekend was exhausting.  I had no idea what trying on wedding dresses was going to be like, and after 3 hours and 2 seperate stores all I wanted was a nap.  I did learn a number of things about the dress I want.
  • I <3 Sweetheart neck lines
  • I want Ivory, not for any reason other than it looked better than white on me
  • As much as I was in love with the shorter wedding dresses they make me look like I should be going to my Sweet 16 and not my Wedding
  • I'm going with A-line
  • And I want something vintage looking, not really sure what yet

AlsoI tried on about a million more dresses than these 4, these just happen to be my favorites.  The first two are from David's Bridal, and the second 2 are from Alfred Angelo's.

I'll be dress shopping again on Halloween with a couple of my ladies.  I've found a few dresses I really like online that fit my new rules and  they'll hopefully be available to try on, or at least something super similar.  Then that night, for the first time in many years instead of a Halloween Party I'll be attending a fancy restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday.

But that's all for wedding stuff today.  I'm feeling bombarded and fatigued by other people's wants for my wedding and opinions, so I'm taking as many breaks as I possibly can.

Other things:  We went to see Where the Wild Things Are last weekend.  And though the monsters were extraordinary, the added non-sense material did nothing but make me wish the movie was as short as the animated version I'd watch as a child.  We also finished the True Blood first season, finally, yes I know we are very behind.  I honestly think Netflix is one of the best inventions ever.  No only do they continuously send us one disc at a time to watch, but we also stream things over the internet and through the xbox.  I've been catching up on The Tudors, a showtime show about Henry VIII and his family and drama.  I love this show, I've been facinated by the Tudors since I was in about 5th grade and we learned about them in science class.  They're whole family did so many crazy things and had such an impact on the world, things that last even today.  I mean really, Henry had 6 wives, divoriced 2, beheaded 2, one died and one out lived him.  On top of that he had a ton of sex, like all the time, seperated England from the Catholic Church and had the of the best known children to ever rule over England. Ok, I'm a nerd.  But it's better than a soap opera.  Well that's plenty of me being a giant nerd today.  Happy planning to all of you.

#332 and counting down

Today's the first day back at the gym.  Goodness it's been since before we got engaged, and even some before that.  Well over a month, I'll probably keel over half way through, but the fiance is coming with cause he's amazing.  Today we're sticking to cardio, he's been working extra hours to help save up money, and by extra hours I mean he's been getting up at un-godly hours to go in early.

I feel as though I need a break from wedding stuff, I also feel I can't take one.  This weekend is dresses.  I still can't picture really what it's supposed to look like.  I have to start the diet/ exercise regimen.  I'm dreading the drama of going home.  I'm pretty organized about how I do things, I like to tackle one project at a time.  Other people are worrying about other aspects though.  Like the bridal shower and how they'll look in their brides maid dress and my father not being able to invite the million extra strangers that he wants to come to the wedding.  I wish everyone would just let me be happy, and enjoy the light stress of planning and happiness of day dreaming about the big day.

Enough of that onto Dresses!

This Ballarina Style is one of my favorites, by Johanna Hehir

I love the idea of dying the petty coat and matching the shoes to that :)

I absolutely love this dress by Michelle Roth

I'll make sure to post pics of the one's I actually get to try one this weekend too.  It'll be the first time in nearly a year that I'll go home with out the fiance.  Some really good catching up time is due for me and my bestie, I'm actually more excited about that than any of the rest of it I think.  The dress part is terrifying and exciting, but I'm not really ready to be doing it yet.  I'd like to keep it around $600 at the very most expensive, but then can I really find something I love for that little money that looks amazing.  Well until next time I'd love to see some ideas from other people.  :)

Total Upheaveal Rolling Back to #335

Well I'm back to square 1.  Not exactly, but we had to change the date again.  This time it's officialy official.  I've emptied my savings to pay the deposit and we've sat down and figured out how much we need to save each month in order to pay for everything ourselves.  I shouldn't say everything, my mother is paying for the dress, and my FMIL is offering graciously to pay for the cake and some alcohol.  Thank the powers that be for both of them.

It's official we're using the Columbus Athenaeum.  Took them the check yesterday.  Friday evening ceremony and reception, parents are starting to freak out about that point already.  From what i read people love Friday night weddings.  They get a reason to take a day off work and they still have the whole weekend for recovery and whatever else they like.  And quite frankly If they don't want to come they don't have to come, it's not about those people to me, its about the people that are closest to me, and they'll be there even if I had it at 2pm on a Tuesday.  :)

I'm still in need of choosing two more brides maids, but in the mean time I'll be going home for my first dress try on with my mom and MOH next weekend.  I was never the little girl that dreamed about her wedding so I'm having a really difficult time invisioning myself in a white dress of any sort, but I'm falling in love with the 50's style ones I see on the internet.  (I promise pics to come.)  But there's a part of me that thinks I need to wear something long.  I don't know, hence the try on.  I think I'm going to start with what is most flattering on my short body and large rear end.  I'll also be torturing my MOH by making her try on dresses, at least a few so we can find a flattering fit for her as well.  She's super happy with the extra 2 months for losing weight.  I suppose I am as well.  I have about 20lbs I'd like to lose by then.

Speaking of, I'm off for my breif work out for the day.  I've started out this week with about 15-20 min. a day.  It's not much, but it's a start since I haven't done any sort of working out in a long while.  So until next time.  Have a good one.

#244-243

The color scheme via colorlovers.com . Really this is an amazing web site. You can search through other peoples pallets or create a brand new one all your own and name it. The green is really only for the leaves and such for flowers since I'm making all my own or at least that's the plan.

We have 3 more sites to visit this week. I'm excited about tonight's, the Cultural Arts Center, it's just a pretty old building and the reception would be in the gallery space with local art on the walls. Then we're going to see a Country Club, and the Sanctuary which we never actually went to the last time I posted about them. :)

The Athenaeum just got back to me and said for the rooms we're interested in they only have Fridays available. Has anyone traveled out of town, like 3 hours, on a friday for a wedding? We'd save a little money on the space, and probably on food too since less people would come. Hmmmm.....

#254-245 Sorry I suck

Wow. I've been terrible at posting anything at all. There has been quite a lot going on in our lives non-wedding related, but that's really not a good excuse.

So where we are in the planning... Geesh the days keep slipping away so quickly. We went to visit an absolutely gorgeous facility last night. The Columbus Athenaeum. My fiance is in love. We're both very visual people, which is sort of funny. We're the type of people that have a vision in their head, but find it very difficult to verbalize to another person, we just have to see exactly what it is that we're looking for and when we do we buy it. I hope someone else out there understands what I'm talking about. My mom experienced this for the first time ever this past year when she was shopping for an outfit to wear to my brother's wedding. In her head she knew exactly what she wanted and didn't want to settle for anything else. She called me one day and said "I finally understand why you're so difficult to shop with." Well any way WE just loves this place, and I do too, but I'm a bit more practical about it than he is, I think we should see a couple more places and then decide for certain. http://www.columbusmeetings.com/index.php?PageID=14

I've also finished all my puff balls, well I think i have at least. I'm not considering buying yet another color, a sort of Magenta to go along as a intermingler from the red to the purple. Have I mentioned that I'm an artist. :) I'm not famous or anything, but I do paint and draw, and things have to be visually just right as far as colors go, especially when they're analogous like reds and purples are.

I'm also considering making a small print/ painting as the favor to our guests. Something meaningful to the wedding but not something cheesy with our names and wedding date that would just get tossed out after being in the garbage drawer in the kitchen for a number of years. We're doing the Beatles sort of theme for music, and I think I want to have the base theme be "I Want To Hold Your Hand" so maybe something with hands. I did a art therapy project on hands in a metaphor and meanings class in college, they've always sorta meant something special to me.

Last but definitly not least I've ordered and recieved my paper flower kits as well as a paper butterfly kit from Paper-Source.com the most amazing site ever I think. I haven't started putting them together yet, but I'm extremely excited about them. And I'm considering using the butterflies for my bouquet.

These kits only run about $14 a piece and come with the patterns so you can make them any colors you like. There's also assorted flowers and such on the web site.

Okay, I'm off, to all of you happy planning.

#255, 254

This past weekend I also decided that I was going to start a scrap book of all the things WE and I have done together. He was my inspiration since he likes to save ticket stubs from everything, and has done so for years. We've traveled so much this summer, and I've got lots of trinkets and maps, fliers, whatever from all of our adventures. I found a really cute covered scrap book on crazy sale at Michael's crafts store while I was shopping for wedding crafts. I can't find a good picture of it though, so I'll wait till I have it started and post some pics.
